Kathleen Travis

Ms. Travis
Over the course of the school year, students will practice critical thinking skills, crucial grammar concepts, reading comprehension skills, and formal writing projects through diversified lesson plans and the study of various texts.  My classroom is student-centered, meaning that I am going to do everything in my power to make sure each and every student succeeds no matter a student’s level of proficiency or learning style.  I look forward to a great school year!

Students have been provided with a class code to view their information on Google Classroom. I use Google Classroom to provide my students with important information, but many of our class assignments will be done on paper.  Therefore, if a student is absent, they need to see me for their makeup work.

I also use email and Talking Points to communicate with students and parents about class performance and specific concerns as needed. Since one of the aims of my class is to prepare students for the responsibilities of college, it is the students' responsibility to write down and keep track of upcoming assignments/tests/projects. I will verbally give students directions for any homework and upcoming assessments in addition to writing each assignments and due date on the whiteboard in my room beneath the course name. (If a student is struggling to keep track of these responsibilities and due dates, I would recommend getting a planner to write down his or her assignments so that they can hone these skills.)
