A big congratulations to Alex Adams, Daniel Jiminez, and Spencer Smith!
They are all regional winners in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards writing contest and will be recognized this summer at the Gulf Coast Conference on the Teaching of Writing.
FOUR Pelham students won awards at the Alabama Writer's Forum Literacy Arts Contest for their nonfiction writing. The Alabama Writer's Forum Literacy Arts Contest is a fiction and nonfiction writing competition open to all high school students in the state of Alabama.
The following students were Cash Prize Winners for their creative nonfiction short essay submissions:
Ashly Vargas
Hannah Mercer
Jashan Grewal
And Caroline Otis was awarded 2nd place in the ENTIRE state for her creative nonfiction long essay submission, which also includes a cash prize. This is a big accomplishment!
Pelham High School on being a 2022 School of Distinction award winner for the Green & Gold Program awarded by the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS). Click here to read more about this great honor.
Brooklynn Price for winning Honorable Mention for her photograph entered in the 2023 State Superintendent's Visual Arts Exhibit in Category 2 (Photography or Computer-Generated Work) for 11th-12th grade. This is out of all the schools in Alabama! There will be an award ceremony on March 8, 2023, at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery and her work will be displayed in the Secondary Exhibit in the Old Supreme Court Library of the State Capitol from February 3, 2023, and runs until February 24. 2023.

To the Scholars Bowl Team, who outscored opponents 1990-920 and finished 5-1 at District and qualified for the State Championship. Also, Connor McDonald was selected to participate in the 2023 Individual Player National Championship Tournament in April! Whoo-hooo!! Congratulations Connor, PHS Scholars Bowl Team and Coach McDonald!!
To the PHS Wrestling Team, for placing 5th as a Team in the south section Friday! Please congratulate our 7 State Qualifiers: Nick Bamberg, Walt Calvert, Thomas Peerson, Noah Schilleci, Tanner McCarthy, Seth Branham and Cash Tatum. They advance to the State Wrestling Tournament held Friday February 17, 2023.

PHS Girls Basketball are your 2023 Area Champions for the third year in a row! Our Boys Basketball team is 6A Area Runner UP! Congratulations to both teams and their coaches as they enter into Sweet 16 play this week!
UPDATE: Congratulations to our Girls Basketball team for advancing to the Elite 8 for 2nd year in a ROW! Our boys team came up short vs Paul Bryant, however this year was the third year in a row they made it to the Sweet 16! Our boys played so hard every game. Impressive season! Thank you Coach D, Coach Gilmer & Coach Willard for your leadership.
